Creamy layer
by Hebbar R on Apr 12, 2008 05:51 PM   Permalink | Hide replies

The political class is fretting and fuming on the non-inclusion of the creamy layer for reservations. From this it is amply clear that they do not want the actual needy to benefit and only the rich and powerful from these sections should continue to get the benefits. Trust these people to bring in a law to over rule the SC ruling.

There is a saying in Hindi, which roughly translated means 'knee bends towards stomach only'. So the politicians and social reformers from the creamy layer want the reservation pie to be enjoyed only by their progeny and kin. Trust the Meenas, once very powerful kshatraps of Ranas of Mewar, Yadavas, one of the most powerful clans during Mahabharat times,Jats, who once lorded over western Uttar Pradesh, to claim the status of backward. Fifty years hence, Misras and Shuklas, Saxenas and Mathurs, Gargs and Mittals, Bhattacharjees and Chakravarties, and the ilk will be forced to claim the status of most backwards among backwards.

Stop shedding crocodial tears for the so called needy among OBCs.
