The SC has done a commendable job in supporting the reservation for OBCs in institutions of higher learning. It is a step in the right direction since our country is still plagued by socially discrimination, and only such affirmative actions can pull out sizeable sections of the Indian society from the exclusion in education and employment. Merit is not absolute in everything, particularly when there is no fairplay among the stakeholders; there has to be some room for those who have been disadvantaged for long to find a place to move ahead in life. And a responsible nation has every duty to bring the benefit of development to all sections of the society. India should ensure justice to all its citizens. And this is move in that direction and I welcome it.
