Reservation does not spoil the merit
by A. Swaminathan on Apr 10, 2008 10:46 PM   Permalink | Hide replies

This is not 100 % reservation for OBC. Every society, the have's should act as big brother and work for upliftment of Havenot's. One should not grap everything because of built in advantage. Is it my sin that I have born as a son of poor uneducated former ? It is it sin, that i study in Govt High Scool, just because my father is am agriculturist. ? Do these forward community always wants farmer son to be farmer and officer son to be officer ?

reservation does spoil the merit.so wat if he is a poor farmers son, if he is intelligent he will definitely make on the basis of his marks. its the fee structure that needs to be consideredcos a poor farmer may not be able to educate his son/daughter if fees are more than wat he ca afford or repay if he were to borrow . Nobody is denying anyone who has the merit , irrespective of which ever caste they belong to the right to educate. Education should be free from reservation and only on the basis of merit. The one who really wants to get into IIT/IIM will work towards tht irrespective of his/her caste and the payoff will definitely be there.

For your information, I am the first one and last one to get into engineering 25 years back from my village on merit. No one else has come from any of those villages after that. Do u think, the environment is same for every one to compete ? Do u know, why many odd's we have faced in mour life to come up and compete at every stage with brahmin's. Everywhere , there is partiality and discrimination. Even a good education on merit for OBC' does not ensure good career growth, in this biased society.

career growth in any organization is not based on caste. Emphasis should be on importance of education and making education , that too good education affordble to people living in all strata of the society. The quality of education provided in govt schools should be the same as that of pvt. For this the govt should utilise the money that they get from the public towards initiating developmental activites in these segments . As for career grwoth, a person grows in his/her job based on her performance and output and has nothing to do with caste. so do u mean to say that merit has no value and that ppl who cant perform should be given entry jus based on resrvations? if reservations are given, a poor farmers son doesnt have the means to pay thefees then wat happens?? so fees should be affordable, good qualuity education should be made available and merit should be honoured and regarded. One should thonk logically and not just get carried away. I am nt opposed to the idea of a framers son being educated but on the basis of merit.
