The real backwardness in education in India is due to its ECONOMIC BACKWARDNESS, not social backwardness. The poor people, irrespective of what their so called caste is, cannot afford to be in a PRIMARY school because they are helping their parents make money for the family denying themselves education. The Govt should focus on improving PRIMARY SCHOOL EDUCATION standards and how to make sure that poor children COMPLETE THEIR HIGH SCHOOL EDUCATION.
The Govt should encourage private sector to run PRIMARY SCHOOLS and allow them to OFFSET their school expenditure against their regular income. Socially conscious private companies will then come forward to help educating the villages. They can also offer jobs to the parents to wean them away from depending on their children to supplement their income. There can be some rules that can be laid around this. This will help spread primary education in the villages where there is an absolute need. This will start changing the educational achievement of the nation. IT IS NOT THE ACADEMIC BACKWARDNESS, IT IS THE ECONOMIC BACKWARDNESS WHICH IS CAUSING THE PROBLEM.
