Election Pointers-Karnataka
by AR on Apr 08, 2008 01:05 AM   Permalink | Hide replies

- The Congress attracted maximum applicants per constituency - there are virtual stampede of applicants. The JD(S) the least.
- The Congress still attracts maximum defections. The JD(S) none at all. In fact, it looks that the sheep is deserting the JD(S) lock stock and barrel.

Basis of these two pointers, the Congress seems favorites to win the elections especially with the base of the JD(S) disintegrating. The return of SM Krishna consildates the Vokkaliga vote bank behind Congress.

There is high possibility of non-Lingayata communities adopting tactical voting agaties against the BJP. These include Vokkaligas, Muslims and other religious minorities, linguitic minorities, particularly Tamils, SCs and STs

AR just gave pointers. They should be appreciated as such.

If opinion and exit polls can go so horribly wrong so can these pointers. There is more than a month to election day and any event can change the tide. The 2004 elections was peculiar that the changing tide was not noticed by arm chaired commentors and election analysts.

So KSB. Sleep well too and who knows that it might be y that is in for a rude or pleasant surprise on counting day
