can we engage in a serious debate..instead of abusing ?
by Salil on Apr 04, 2008 06:00 AM   Permalink | Hide replies

What i know. Please correct me if i am wrong.

1. A river flows from Karnataka to Tamil nadu.
2. Tamilnadu wants to construct a dam, on the border. And I assume its in Tamil nadu state jurisdiction.

............So whats Karnataka's problem then?

Can some Kannadiga let me know without hurling abuses to anyone please?

everything in india is a political stunt...but it usually has some basis.
For instance even mumbai-bihari issue is a political stunt by the great thackrey...the basis for which is biharis straining mumbai infrastructure, spoling culture...or whatever

i want to know whats the basis for this issue?

Mr. Salil, in the same token, may I ask you -
a river originates in Kerala never pass through Tamil Nadu - why Tamil Nadu does not permit Kerala to build a dam in their territory? Tamil Nadu wanted the full jurisdiction over Kerala's water! When it comes to building a dam acroass a river originating in Karnataka, it is different yardstick!! Tamil Nadu wants to rule Kerala & Karnataka and wants all its neighbour's resources. Why Tamil Nadu always put up a fight against its neighbors for unjustifiable motives? Tamil Nadu is not setting a good example. Also, even in the case of Railways, Minister Balu conveniently denied all chances of development for Karanataka & Kerala states. This kind of attitutde is not promoting national integration. It helps only to promote sectarian thoughts.

You have mis understood man,
kerala is unnecessarily creating problem in Mullai periyar dam issue.
The river is having a dam cotrolled by Tamilnadu as the water flows into Taminadu by agreement with kerala.
The water level has to be increased for better ustilisation of the water which otherwise is flowing to the sea getting wasted.
Kerala is adamant in not allowing to increase the level stating the dam is weak and it will break and submerge kerla areas.
The experts of dam contruction have conducted detailed examination and survey on the instruction of Supreme court and certified the dam is safe.
But the kerala politicians including the communists are not accepting the study of experts and adamantly refusing to increase the level.
YOu tell me whether they are justified?
Now they want to construct a new dam unnecessarily just to prevent water going to Tamilnadu.
Funny thing is that the water is not required by kerala as it does not have agricultural lands fed by the river. If water is not going to Tamil nadu lands it will only to flow to the seas.
Just see the negative thinking of the keralites!
That too they get milk, rice, eggs chicken all from Tamilnadu.
