I would like to tell all Rediff readers an interesting which I can across when I was working for a prominent bank in one of its rural branch in Tamil Nadu. It was in 2003 October or November I am not very sure%u2026 My branch premise was leased and the land lord was a local village headman and also member of some political party%u2026 It was during this time Tamil nadu faced with serious water crises%u2026 In the month of Oct Nov there was rainfall in a very few areas%u2026 and a water reservoir which was near the place my branch was located was half full%u2026 and the then CM of tamilnadu issued an order to release some water from that reservoir so that some other villages nearby might get some relief%u2026 Then protests started from within the village and the village headman cum politician was organizing a protest rally to the collector%u2019s office, against releasing water%u2026
These were the very same people who were protesting for release of cavery water from Karnataka%u2026 Now my point is %u201CWhen you are not ready to release water within your own state how can you blame another state for not releasing water%u2026 I am not against Karnataka releasing water to tamilnadu%u2026 All I want to say is that this is not a problem between kanndiga or tamiis%u2026 it is the mind set of our people whose selfish attitude is the root of this problem%u2026 Even if Karnataka and tamilnadu had been one state this problem would have araised%u2026 like northern par

All I want to say is that this is not a problem between kanndiga or tamiis%u2026 it is the mind set of our people whose selfish attitude is the root of this problem%u2026 Even if Karnataka and tamilnadu had been one state this problem would have araised%u2026 like northern part of the state is getting more water than southern part and southern regions are being ignored%u2026 Please do not come to a conclusion that I might be a kannadigaa%u2026 I am a tamilian, born and brought up in Chennai and I still live in Chennai%u2026
