Ridiculous!!!!
by saigeetha jagannathan on Apr 01, 2008 12:33 PM   Permalink | Hide replies

The claims by Karnataka is ridiculous. The cauvery water(meagre quantity) that karnataka releases to Tamilnadu is measured in Biliguntlu before entering Hogennakal and hence its Tamilnadu right to use the water in whatever way it chooses (in this case - a drinking water project to two water deficient districts of north Tamilnadu). Karnataka's business is to release water and doesn't have any right to determine how TN people should use it. Its their business.

Morover, Honenakkal project was sanctioned in 1999 with the largest aid coming from Japan but was closed due to various sanctions imposed on India (Pokhran tests). This project was long overdue. Karnataka never raised voice then!!!. They never claimed Hogenakkal during Veerappan days. Now suddenly they have woken up as they are doing on Belgaum and other land grabbing issues. One day, they may even claim the Wayanad of Kerala.

You tamil people are used to claim other's chaddi as yours.. Your political parties making it a political issue which could have been resolved peacefully.. Why was the project started without even taking permission from central government.. Your MP's hold key portfolio's in central ministry don't they think they are a part of India than being Tamil's first??

You can implement same drinking water project from Mettur dam which could have been economically viable for TN than Hogenakal, your PWD and Muncipal ministers want to make money for next elections though its expensive they choosed to go with hogenakal project isn't this very simple logic which could have been understood better???

Mr. Prashant Kumar,
This project becomes too expensive from Mettur dam as these districts are much closer to Hogenakkal than to Mettur. Morover, Mettur is surrounded by eastern ghats & a part of Western ghats which meet at Shervaroyan hills and it is practically very difficult and expensive to lay pipes thro' the mountains. There is a valid reason. I am sure you dont have full knowledge about the issue but just abusing as most of your friends do.

Dear Prashant,
Take the map of India. Take a scale.
Note also the inclination of the land.
Find where Pugaikal is. using the scale measure the distance between Pugaikal and dharmapuri ( where the project it to be implemented) and from mettur to dharmapuri ( taking into consideration the inclination). Now you tell me, if you want to buid a tap in your house, will you build a storage tank above the roof level, or below the ground level?

being from Karnatak..how can you comment on politics .. don't you think it is funny after all political drama for past 6 months in Karnataka..... Wake up prashanth ..it is the political stunt to get votes from guys like you... Who blidly give expert comment on where the water should be taken from. remeber cauvery delta in tamil nadu feeds more people then cauvery delta in karnatak..if you think as an india you won't mind providing water to tamil nadu than retaining water in Karnataka just for votes.

This issue was politically painted not by TN ministers but by Karnataka's BJP on the eve of elections. TN Govt decided to implement this project soon after getting nod from Japan. It happened and they didn't want to delay it further for this project has been waiting since 1999. Check the facts right and kindly dont involve in hollow bashing
