Stupid Questions
by san man on Sep 26, 2007 06:27 AM   Permalink | Hide replies

I am an atheist, and I don't believe in Rama. But what is the point in trying to ask if Rama himself would disapprove of protests against Sethusamudram project?

Do you see any secularist asking whether Mohammad would disapprove over Muslims praying so much to Kaaba like an idol? Or Muslims revering the bal at the Hazratbal? Ohhh, when they do it, then it's not idolatry, right?

Come on. The self-proclaimed secularists are all about double standards. The type of secularism that is practiced in India is the exact opposite of the secularism practiced in the developed world. It's just a fake slogan.

As an atheist, I am disgusted that the racially chauvinist DMK has hijacked my belief system (atheism) for their racist agenda.

The point is -"to make the sethusamuduram project reality". After all everyone is not fighting about your belief system (atheism). I am a believer in god and dont believe in Rama, which are irrelevant to the point. All we want is some common sense and Sethusamuduram project's fast implementation.

Which god do you believe in, and from where do you obtain his guidance? As an atheist, I don't believe in Rama, or Jesus, or Buddha, or Mohammad. But just because I don't believe in Buddha, doesn't mean that I wasn't outraged to see Taliban destroy the Buddhas at Bamiyan. DMK is trying to behave in the same way. This is wrong, and it's typical of Karunanidhi who admires Stalin (he named his own son after a mass-murder in Europe)

True. By directly abusing Ram, questioning his existance MK has done major damage to dravidian rationalist movement.

Not a single person, whether politician, or intellectual came to his support on ram abuse/questioning ram's existance.

Dravidianist movement is not a rationalist movement. They have hijacked the word 'rationalism' but do not behave like rationalists should. Rationalism isn't supposed to single out one religion for particular targetting. Rationalism isn't supposed to be used in the service of racial ideology. Racial chauvinism isn't rational. DMK are simply trying to exploit rationalism as a vehicle to peddle their racism.

5 years back, people would have believed you less. Today, much fewer people will question you.

I agree.

See, we are not from TN. We form our opinion based on others writing, analysis. However the fanaticism MK/DMK now shows has exposed them completely.

I would say, DMK's future is gone once MK dies. There are serious questions about viability of DMK as a party and its ideology.

Well One Mukerhee wishing for a death of MK and praying to Lord Rama for his downfall itself shows how our Dravidian movement has gained importance. It has uprooted Aryan supremacy and caste system and exposed Veda's . No wonder you are calling for its blood and head. But for one MK crores of fellow proud Tamil and Dravidian brother's will resolve to continute to be free from the shakcles of Aryan dominance.

Interesting Balakrishna! Why do the proud and rationalistic Dravidians/Tamilians keep electing Jaya (a Kannada Iyengar with acting as her only qualification) every other time? Or MGR ,the only Keralite to drop out of grade school?Every religion has its faults. Why are you not exposing what Islam has done to women,Christianity to Jews and blacks, etc? Are those not crimes? The problem is not with rationalism itself -I am personally agnostic .The problem is the selective usage of that ideology to abuse Hinduism.Do you think the slave-of-Sonia Singh would dare claim there was no proof Muhammad existed -or laughed at Jesus's "virgin birth"?Every body has the right to his/her beliefs - except Hindus,I guess. If the DK/DMK is all about rationalism, ask "Kruel"nidhi to not wear that stupid yellow towel on his shoulder like a waiter at Sangeetha Bhavan -something a Brahmin astrologer told him to.Why did Periyar marry a teenage Brahmin girl at 84 - was it not what a Brahmin Josiar told him to do?

The very meaning of us entering temple and worshipping god, having access to education, women having more freedom as a result of abolishing devadasi system, sati system are all 'direct' results of the Dravidian movement. If you dont belive these things as rational, even god cannot save you.

Dei,BalaKrishna, why do you care about entering temples if you do not believe in Hinduism?Women having freedom - Ha Ha Ha .Tamil Nadu is the only state where the chief minister has two wives -openly.Jaya was physically abused in the Assembly-if that is womens's freedom, your womenfolk must be in cages!

What about this ,Balalkrishna? Let Karunanidhi have the guts to ask Islam to allow female mullahs or the Pope to allow female Catholic priests? If non-Brahmins can become Archakas, why can "Fatima" or Catherine not do the same?

Rascaldom of Karunanidhi

It is not surprising to have chief ministers who have no knowledge. It is said in the vedic literature that fools and rascals will occupy leadership positions in Kali yuga (the age of quarrel and hypocrisy). In the Bhagavad Gita,The Supreme Personality of Godhead,Lord Sri Krsna, states, O son of Pr%u0323th%u0101, in this world there are two kinds of created beings. One is called the divine and the other demoniac. I have already explained to you at length the divine qualities. Now hear from Me of the demoniac.
Those who are demoniac do not know what is to be done and what is not to be done. Neither cleanliness nor proper behavior nor truth is found in them. They say that this world is unreal, with no foundation, no God in control. They say it is produced of sex desire and has no cause other than lust.Following such conclusions, the demoniac, who are lost to themselves and who have no intelligence, engage in unbeneficial, horrible works meant to destroy the world.Taking shelter of insatiable lust and absorbed in the conceit of pride and false prestige, the demoniac, thus illusioned, are always sworn to unclean work, attracted by the impermanent. They believe that to gratify the senses is the prime necessity of human civilization. Thus until the end of life their anxiety is immeasurable. Bound by a network of hundreds of thousands of desires and absorbed in lust and anger, they secure money by illegal means for sense gratification. The demoniac person thinks: "So

The demoniac person thinks: "So much wealth do I have today, and I will gain more according to my schemes. So much is mine now, and it will increase in the future, more and more. He is my enemy, and I have killed him, and my other enemies will also be killed. I am the lord of everything. I am the enjoyer. I am perfect, powerful and happy. I am the richest man, surrounded by aristocratic relatives. There is none so powerful and happy as I am. I shall perform sacrifices, I shall give some charity, and thus I shall rejoice." In this way, such persons are deluded by ignorance. Thus perplexed by various anxieties and bound by a network of illusions, they become too strongly attached to sense enjoyment and fall down into hell.Self-complacent and always impudent, deluded by wealth and false prestige, they sometimes proudly perform sacrifices in name only, without following any rules or regulations.Bewildered by false ego, strength, pride, lust and anger, the demons become envious of the Supreme Personality of Godhead, who is situated in their own bodies and in the bodies of others, and blaspheme against the real religion. Those who are envious and mischievous, who are the lowest among men, I perpetually cast into the ocean of material existence, into various demoniac species of life.Attaining repeated birth amongst the species of demoniac life, O son of Kunt%u012B, such persons can never approach Me. Gradually they sink down to the most abominable type of existence. There are three gates le

There are three gates leading to this hell %u2014 lust, anger and greed.
Every sane man should give these up, for they lead to the degradation of the soul. The man who has escaped these three gates of hell, O son of Kunt%u012B, performs acts conducive to self-realization and thus gradually attains the supreme destination. He who discards scriptural injunctions and acts according to his own whims attains neither perfection, nor happiness, nor the supreme destination. One should therefore understand what is duty and what is not duty by the regulations of the scriptures. Knowing such rules and regulations, one should act so that he may gradually be elevated.(Bhag.Gita 16.7-16.24).
