Everyone is GOD. Its just that they donot realize this fact and think of themselves as individuals away from GOD. This is like a Kid going away from Father and suffering. The moment Kid comes back to Father, he will free himself/herself from the sufferings of the world. As simple as this is WHAT GOD IS. DONOT MAKE THINGS COMPLICATED BROTHER. LOGIC AND EBATES CANNOT MAKE YOU REALIZE GOD. Only calming down of your mind will yield the truth. When Muslims do Namaz or hindus do pryers in Temples or Christians do services in Church, the ultimate aim of all is to calm down mind. When a person calms down mind, he will know everything. Just like every material world is nothing but ultimately the energy (as per modern nuclear physics), the ultimate truth is that EVERYONE AND EERYTHING IS GOD. THIS IS FINAL. Those who go in this direction will be free from the clutches of the nature like life and death, diseases e.t.c and those who go against this will have to suffer life after life and at one point will have to look back again and correct their course. Universal laws doenot wokr as per your or my belief, but you have to know them correctly and follow them brother.
The only way to confirm progress in spiritual path is to evaluate if the person is free from the clutches of the nature and slavery to nature or not. nothing else is criteria for spiritual enlightment.

Sridhar, I believe you are a sincere devotee. But i'll say lets look into the truth...and read wat religious scripture says...
GOD is One, GOD is Eternal
He begets not nor was He begotten
There is none like unto Him
None of your GOD hindus worship satisfies this defination..so y worship them...?

U stupid mindless ppl! Y shud we calm our mind and attain God? does this stop the atrocities against all childre across the world like rape,abuse,slavery,killing et etc wat not? wat do those young minds know abt mediatation,calm ing or some mf?
