Law in INDIA
by ALIYAR HUSSAIN on Sep 26, 2007 04:01 PM   Permalink | Hide replies

There is 2 different law in India. Muslims can marry more then one wife, according to their holy Scripture (Quaran). But Hindu cannot marry more than once if the 1st wife is still alive or object. But Lord Rama's Father Dashratha has had more than one wife then where this law is from? Surely it is not from your Holy Scripture Ramayana, because it doesn't stop you to marry more than once.

English is very funny language. You will not find most of Hindi translations in English. The fact is that there is no English translation of Dharam. The English word is Religion. But Religion and Dharam are two different words with different meanings. In Hindi, we call Religion as 'Sampradya', like Hindu 'Sampradya', Muslim 'Sampradya', Christian 'Sampradya'etc., whereas in English, we will say Hindu Religion, Muslim Religion or Christian Religion. Dharam is world associated with Mankind. For example, 'Humanity is mankind', no one will say 'Humanity is Religion', but the same if you have to convey in Hindi, then the correct phrase in Hindi will be 'Manavta Hi Dharam Hai'. No one will say ' Manavata Hi 'Sampradya' Hai'. Therefore, Dharam is uniform word, associated to all Human Beings irrespective of any Professions, Religions. In view of the same, no one can separate Dharam even from Politics. Our Religious Book teaches us about Dharam, and are flexible enough to change as per the prevailing circumstances. Changes are always better according to our Gita. Therefore, as on life has progressed, Hindus also has changed according to the prevailing cicumstances from time to time. If Dashrath has more than one wife, it is not necessary for us that we should also have more than one wife. The vital factor is, whether we can absorb the good qualities of Lord Ram in ourselves or not to safeguard Dharam.
