Shri Krishna said in Gita, "No matter what the price u pay for victory, victory is always cheap. We salute brave indian soilders who laid their lives and took back heights of kargil and forced pakistan to vacate the remaining hills and the world view also changed for india. The credit goes to the brave decission taken by the than defense minister shri l k advani"

There is something wrong with REDIFF, i want to reply to Aryan but my message is appearing in Abhimanyu's reply box.....my appoplogies.
Yes Aryan, you are 100 percent correct,we were absolutely unprofessional in fighting that ugly war....Where was all our Air power?? Why we didn't mutilate pakis by continuous pounding and carpet bombing ??What were those silly missiles doing which we boast in every parade?? Why we just put all our men under the fire where there was no way out?? We were ruthless, not at pakistanis but at our own men...poor men won that battle but they lost everything, all their friends, colleagues, young officers.....Why?? because some of our useless tactician were sitting in Airconditioned rooms in Delhi and were planning all the war games.
Kudos to our soldiers who did not defy their seniors orders and kept on getting converted into dead bodies. I feel for them and at the same time want somebody to take the responsiblity of absolute failure of intelligence, i want someone to be hanged for failing absolutely for our counter attack startegy........Americans fought a war in 1991 in Iraq without loosing a man, why because it was all air power and missiles which won them that war, we could do the same instead we sent our men in those trecherous hills and not the missilies.....good one Aryan. Thanks

WE SALUTE THOSE BRAVE SOLDIERS BILLIONS TIMES WHO WERE PUSHED INTO A BATTLEFIELD WITH UNKNOWN ENEMY STRENGTH,STRATEGY,LOCATION and WEAPONARY.We salute the parents, brothers, sisters, wives and children of those brave soldiers who laid down their lives to save the honour of nation. This part of your message is beyond question.
But other side of the coin is that it was a national shame.Mutilated dead bodies of soldiers of all ranks of first patrol parties remained in the battlefield for days.
Where was Military Intelligence,RAW and IB for months when infilteration and fortification was going on inside Indian held territory !!!???
ON WAKING UP what strategy was planned as counter offensive !!!???
In such a situation a village securityguard (Chowkidar)would have done better than what top army brass did !!!
Since nothing was known about enemy,Air Force alone should have been pushed in action for survillence followed by strikes !!!
Troops pushed in action were not from the regiments who specilize in mountain warfare !!!
Special ground troops were supposed to be the last to be sent to recapture enemy occupied positions after targetting and bombing enemy positions and supply lines!!!
What top brass did was precisely opposite of what was required !!!
Kargil war was a NATIONAL SHAME,A DEBACLE AND A DISASTER on part of top army brass and their political bosses !!!
There is nothing to be proud of it to take six weeks by mighty Indian army to push few fighters back.

it looks like you have as much knowledge about military tactics and the difficulty of combat/counter offensive situations... which i can fit on a pin head... i dont need to say more.....also would like to respond to the ppl dragging religion, caste, ethnicity into every discussion on this website.... how does one get the right to call himself indian?? is it because of the religion, race or ethinicity the person is born into?.... one gets the right to call himself indian by serving this country and you dont have to be in the armed forces or govt to serve this country even a civilian by abiding to all laws and honestly paying his taxes, a doctor by diligently serving the ppl and doing justice to his profession etc are able to serve the country and if one serves and loves this country hes an INDIAN watever religion, race, caste ethinicty he belongs to. period.... u keep on talking abt soldiers here if possible learn from them they stand as one from the first to the last whatever religion race ethincity they are from....they are brothers they are indians

It is a cheap mentality of fault finding as to what the intelligence was doing for several days etc. The writers do not know the bad terrain or climate and the difficulties in gathering info or intelligence. If this be the truth always, then, who should be blamed for 1962, or Stalin can be condemned for German invasion in 1939. What matters is the final victory, the initial set backs are routine. the arm chair critics who live in air conditioned bunglows of south Extn, Malabar Hils etc. should send their children in National defence Academy and know the work culture and working conditions. These "jholawala" critics oppose even enhanced defence allocations by branding it as jingoism. Such people are vultures.

Fool, the militants occupied territory which belonged to ours and the army patrol units who went there was shot dead in the back by the pakistani foxes.

All the tactical and advantageous positions were occupied by the pakistani terrorists and soldiers ( many officers and soldiers were found dead in their uniforms and credentials ).

EVen from such an advantageous position, the Indian soldiers expelled them from there and thrashed them.

We were indeed fighting against professional pakistani soldiers and officers in these heights, and in spite of their advantageous positiong we thrashed them and defeated them and took back these positions.

This in itself shows the potency of the Indian soldier and the impotence of the pakistani soldier.
Just imagine if the indians were in the pakistani shoes.

If we had such advantageous positions like the pakistanis did, we would not have lost the war like pakistan.

The kargil war showed the heroism and potency of the indian soldier and that he is world class, and at the same time showed the impotence of the pakistani soldier.
