It is a good line, but sadly not true. People are the same everywhere. It is their beliefs that make them what they are. Afghans were buddhists for a thousand years. There were no beheadings of non-buddhists that time or whipping of women for not wearing some paricular kind of clothes.

Once again It is people who interpret the religion savagely who make it look bad.
Take Turkey for example. It has western law and is a western style democracy. There women can dress as they like and Turkey does not believe in Sharia. They are a secular country with Christians, Jews and atheists.
Although the Turks did behave savagely sometime between 1914 and 1918 when they killed hundreds of thousands of Armenian Christians which was WRONG.
Like I said, a Muslim can interpret his religion savagely and behave like Osama Bin Laden or he can interpret his religion humanely like Dr. Abdul Kalam.
In the FINAL ANALYSIS, It is man who maketh the difference in the way he wants to follow his religion.
