The issue is not about

Kuldip Nayar, in his assessment of the deal has voiced concern over the agreement in that it may compromise India's independence. The second para states that India has a foreign policy "congruent to that of the United States".

Experts would agree that such ambiguous statements are a threat to India...

Jyoti Basu, and all other politicians, only look for political gain, by siding with the party they deem on advantageous ground. As is the wont of Indian politicians...

I quote verbatim from Kuldip Nayar's article

"Nuclear energy is not a big deal. We can get all the energy we want from other sources, water, coal, wind, etc by spending far less than the $150 billian, earmarked for nuclear energy installations. Hazards will be less and the price per unit will be half of the cost of nuclear energy. The biggest advantage is that America will not be over-looking our shoulders, something which is understood in the Indo-US nuclear deal"

-Kuldip Nayar is a former Indian High Commissioner to the UK and a former Rajya Sabha MP
