Corruption bothering Defence?
by G Kalyan Kumar on Sep 22, 2007 08:50 AM   Permalink

It was in BJP regime that allegations of hefty commissions surfaced in the matter of purchasing coffins for brave soldiers whop fought and died in Kargil.

I believe at least 30 percent of the money earmarked for Defence gets diverted to corrupt hands through bribes, commissions etc. The result is that modernisation and preparedness of the forces in tune with the thraet scenario and sophistication of the adversaries, the capacity building and infrastructure, equipment acquisition of the forces, does no take place. Empty press conferences boasting of "We are Ready" kind of rhetoric should give way to quiet work that activates the middle order ranks towards greater mental and physical fitness should get priority.

The Indian forces should be at least 25 years ahead of others. This will check fratricide and frusration in the ranks. A growing India cannot forgive all those who had taken away its mother land and still sitting on it and smirking at us. A time will come when we have to reclaim it. For that Army has to be prepared.
