Sati Pratha in india came after islamic invasions.We all including ancestors were following vedas>But Arab invaders used to abduct beaytiful women and justify Jihad on the name of Islam so to protect that Women in India stated covering Face.The first historic account of sati pratha is after islamic invasion, to save themselves for getting raped and humiliated those valiant ladies at that time to die instead of catching alive.People made it a pratha.It was an act of self protection.In the light of vedas this pratha is inhuman.Do read history prior to advent of Islam and after that.When adi shankara took birth at that time women were not veiled they were educated. adi shakara had a long debate in sanskrit with a wife of Brahmin scholar.all these are written histories.
