Rediff needs to Check Facts - Basic Mistake
by Rita Joseph on Sep 20, 2007 12:14 PM   Permalink | Hide replies

It is said in the article above that - In the US today, only 4 per cent of the total energy requirement is produced by nuclear energy;

See Wikepedia - it is close to 20%. What a shame Rediff.

Author of this article is conveniently flipping between two aspects.

1) Electricity produced through Nuclear Route as % of total Electricity produced.
2) Nuclear Energy as % of Total Energy Consumed.

We all know Total Energy consumed is Electricity Heating Oil burnt Directly to heat the house Gasoline burnt in Cars Diesel used in Trucks.

I hope you understood the carefull ploy of
author. Same is being used by KARAT & YACHURY.
