Ban most Hindu news channels
by Anurag Shrivastava on Sep 16, 2007 10:58 AM   Permalink | Hide replies

They are spreading panic and superstition in society. The Ram Sethu was one example of their sensationalisation and inciting the masses. Priya Ranjan Das Munshi must pass the broadcast bill immediately so TV channels

1) do not show same stories again and again
2) do not show any program which is agains constitutional requirement to promote secularism
3) TV will not allow anyone opposed to secularism to come on TV
4) TV will abide with government guidelines which issues related to religion or caste come up in public domain
Most English channels abide by the above code - but Hindi channels promote superstition and are anti-secular . They incite masses to get higher TRPs. I watch both Hindi and English channels and this observation can be certified.

Priya Ranjan - please wake up before it is too late. The recent case of Hindi channel making a fake sting is just tip of the iceberg.

English channels abide by the code??? Ha..ha..ha.

You must be the PR for the Congress, or the local Congress MLA, drumming your PR spin here! All the english channels are crap! The majority are on the payroll of foreign media houses. All they do is slign mud on hindus, and use it as a tool for propaganda for the Sonia-clan. Obectivity is their least virtue! I have too many journalist friends who themselves comment that all it takes for many Indian journalist in english channels is a couple of liquor bottles (imported kind), and five-star treatment, and they'll write anthing!

Grow up, shri-NUT-sava, and stop bull-shitting!

I am blaming Congress for not having the courage to pass the media bill because they are scared of these media barrons. The High Court is already questioning the government. In case BJP comes to power ( it never will ) - it will have the right to run the media policy the way it wants.

Information is a source of power and the state has a right to ensure that citizens - especially illeducated masses get balanced and fair news with the boundaries of the constitution. And MGR - whether you like it or not - the broadcast bill is coming and that will change how these small time channels with poor reporting standards will be controlled. We will ensure all channels follow a secular standard.
