Ram Setu Canal - A politically motivated project
by on Sep 16, 2007 06:46 PM   Permalink | Hide replies

Dear Sir,
The main question is why the canal through Ram Setu should be constructed which involves more than Rs 2000 crore of expenditure.

What are the technical studies and feasibility report of Ram Setu Canal Project?

What is its economical viability?

There is a need to do geotechnical explorations. If these were done ?

For every project environmental clearance has to be taken from government, based on independent environmental studies. Whether any reliable agency has studied in depth about effect on environment.

Indian people have a right to know all the details about the project. But no newspaper or news channel or the political party or the Govt. of India wants to give the details.

It seems the decision for the Ram Setu Project has been taken on the political considerations, not on the merits of the project.

I request for in depth study of project on these points and bring the real investigated facts about the project to the Indian people, which should be publicly discussed.

In my personal opinion this project is completely going great hazard to environment and economy of the India.

Suppose that 2000 crore spent on canal is spent on erecting new power plant in Southern TN, will it not help in industrialisation?
