A pasisonate article which indeed brings out our over-reaction
by on Sep 15, 2007 01:14 PM   Permalink

I think while its good to encourage free communication and airing of thoughts, especially on explosive and contentious issues like above, it's important for the responsible dailies/sites not to sensitise through such one-sided articles and attention grabbing headlines. While I agree that denying the existence of the central characters of a faith, that too the manner in which the centre / centre's spokesperson (some SPOKESperson) was insensitive to say the least- what we should refrain from doing is over-reacting. OK, so you blame all your existing ills on the british and west in general and Pat everything supposedly Indian...i think 50 long years of self-rule should have cured us of misconceptions. More importantly the issue is of Ram Sethu/Adam's bridge and it could potentially save billions of dollars of trade costs by cutting the thousands of miles f madatory Lanka travel. The savings to oil, and environental adv would be inestimable. The strategic adv to India immense. The Ram Sethu has been, and lets please accept facts as they are, a natural formation with no trace of anythng man-made. It's time to take rational, prudent decisions without getting over-emotional and anti-establishment.As for faith, I dont see why one cannot continue to have the faith (in any case faith exists in the spiritual realm and not a geographical one) with this issue rationally sorted. I think if it all comes down to God, wouldn't He be prudent to understand why this is being done.
