Colombo will lose!
by Blaster on Sep 12, 2007 02:21 PM   Permalink | Hide replies

The fact is Colombo will lose its revenue if the project goes ahead. My friend imports stuff from Chennai. But his shipping is moved to colombo first and then brought to U.K. So is BJP and its allies supporting Colombo to make their revenue.

blaster,u will be blasted by LTTE bombers soon.
i am verymuch in commercial shipping line and
knew that sscp is not viable commercialy becouse situation in trade has changed lot now.
only import of coal/copper ore/fertilisers ships
of more than 30,000 mts coming from indonesia,
middleeast,australia and southamerican nations
are calling tuticorin to discharge above cargo.
even if sscp is operational, those ships need not come via channel due to their origin of supply is in different directions and it does not warrant those ships to come via sscp channel
and only smaller ships calling chennai from colombo would use in which revenue would be very less compared to the incurring expenses like pilotage,dredging/deslitting operation
every year to remove accumlated mud in the channel besides huge investment in this mega project for the benefit of very few. blaster will see after next 10 years the truth of sscp
implemented by useless upa govt in warfooting
to loot money before they are rejected by people in next general election.
