@ prakash

Please go read this

http://www.advaita-vedanta.org/articles/vedantic_significance_in_ramayana.htm

There is even a contempereray Rmayana by Ashok Banker, who is retelling the book in his own way.

Was ther a n edict issued against him?

Therein lies the FUNDAMENTAL difference betwee Santan Dharma and Semetic faiths.
We believe that each is part of the Lord and we all have our way of reaching him.

So, we accept different people trying to express their love (not hate or mudslinging) for our scriptures.

So poeple want to distort this and say the the later interpreatation is the truth etc.
