Police harass innocent Muslim youth

The families of some Muslim youth, detained in connection with the twin blasts, on Tuesday alleged police harassment in the name of investigations and threatened to launch an agitation if they were not released immediately.

The city-based civil rights activists claimed that over 40 youths had been picked up since the August 25 blasts that claimed 43 lives but none of them was produced in the court.

The family members, who included daily wage earners, told reporters here that their dear ones were picked up by plainclothes policemen without giving any reasons and their fate was not known.

"My younger son was taken away by police from my house on Thursday. As a precaution I had sent my elder son with him. Both of them have not returned so far. Please return my sons," Mujeebunnisa, an elderly widow, said.

Zaheda Begum, mother of Rayees Ahmad, said her son was taken away by two policemen in civil dress, when he was returning home from work in Secunderabad area.

He has already faced a lot of harassment at the hands of the police since the blast in Mecca Masjid. He lost his earlier job and his engagement was broken because of the police action, she said. Ghousia Begum, mother of auto driver Abdul Raheem, said her son was dragged from home by the police Monday night. He is the sole bread earner of the family.

"I am a heart patient and I do not have the money even for my medicine. Where should we go for justice," she asked.

The whole nation knows, that the police in India is easily managed by criminals and those in influential positions. However the Courts are considered as the saviors of democracy and to an extent responsible for reining in the Police.

We do frame people, says NCB official

Sub-Inspector Tell HC How They Plant Drugs On Innocents
Abhinav Garg / TNN
New Delhi:It's been suspected by many, but confirmation of the police falsely implicating people by planting drugs on them has now come from the policeman himself who has been accused of planting drugs on two innocent people.

Sub-Inspector Ranbir Singh of the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) admitted at the Delhi High Court that testing kits for checking banned drugs wereoften defective. What's more officers often replaced the recovered substance with lethal drugs in order to implicate them. A shocked court has summoned the NCB director to explain the charge.

Ranbir is himself tainted of this grave abuse of authority. There is an FIR against him for falsely implicating rwo persons under the harsh Narcotics Drugs and Psychotropic Substances act. He claimed to have recovered 100gm heroin from them which later turned out to be harmless paracetomal powder.

The officer is now seeking to get the FIR quashed and in his defence has claimed that he was not the only one who framed people, several other officers did the same.

The Judge has also summoned the Kamala Market Narcotics Cell in-charge

Its mostly the terrorist that take shelter under the guise of "civil liberties". We need to enforce either POTA or something in the lines of "US Patriot Act".

Sujoy, Agreed...the civil liberties work only for potential terrorirsts or terrorists.

Mr. aatk,

Yeah, The innocent people who get killed - whose right to be alive itself was taken away - or their families who suffer immensely, they have no civil liberties in your books, right?

Bottomline, anyone remotely suspected with terrorism shd be taken into custody...those who do not co-operate or create hurdles like Mr. aatk shd be behind bars.
