Corruption
by Kashi Gowlikar on Sep 01, 2007 06:01 PM   Permalink

The crux of the problem in India is lack of professional touch to our work, I mean work of the police and intelligence dept. Our police is basically corrupt and lack merit. They are not serious in their work . Most of the work force is engaged in giving protection to VIPs/ politicians. They lack accountability and enjoy job protection. They keep getting increments and promotions based on seniorty and corrupt practices. We still follow the outdated Police Act framed by the British. People with merit find them selves uneasy in such atmosphere and soon get adopted to established practices. Corrupt politicians call the shots in our Police dept. Honest and good people like Kiran Bedi get isolated and are posted to insignificant posts. How can we expect protection from such Police?
