USA just simply does not want to quit. They keep coming back at it.They are trying every trick in the book to hook India. Now they are using old, retired Henry Kissinger to act as an ambassador of veiled threats and to call on Mr.Advani.
CIA,FBI scout US college campuses, businesses and professionals,to recruit agents who would propound US position and to spy on members of their own communities or in the countries of their origin.Indians,Pakistanis being most vulnerable due to lack of education or knowledge of their rights and or convictions are most targeted. At times these rogues would harass people to spy on the members of their own families or male friends.
In the same vein,US has just sent a contingent of fully paid Indian-Americans to talk to opponents of the N-Deal .
Poor Kissinger who probably already has Alzheimer disease like his boss President Reagan may be a victim of such a scheme. Kissinger is not in any position to vouch for the credibility of this Administration which has lied to American people on numerous occasions and got them into a costly, wasteful wars with no end in sight, causing high number of US casaulties and deaths and loss of trillions of dollars which could have been better spent in meeting the needs at home.
Pakistan improbably got sucked into becoming US 51st State and is now in deep trouble.US now desperately trying to make India its 52nd State.
India just watch out.You don't know who you are dealing with. There is no

If you beleive that we will be the 52nd state of the US or anybody else, you are out of your mind. However, your display of inferiority complex, shameful as it is to an Indian, should not come in the way of India entering into a deal that will serve its interests. If we have to deal with the devil to get what we want, so be it, as long as we don't forget we are dealing with the devil.

Just think why US wants this deal more desperately than India.US is dying to hoodwink India.
India can satisfy it energy needs, including civilian nuclear in other ways without having to sell its soul to devil.Pakistan is in a sorry state now because of US influence and shenanigans.

Your point about alternative energy sources is debatable. It is never a wise option to put all your eggs in one basket. Oil is today trading at $93 a barrel; when it hits 120-130 per barrel in a few year's time, and domestic riots begin on high power and energy prices, who will bell the cat and take the blame? It is therefroe wise to spread your basket among coal, hydel, nuclear, wind, oil etc. As far as nuke power is concerned, Britain gets 20% of its power from nuclear power, and France 80%. Russia is building new generation neutron reactors, and is among the world leaders in the field and is willing to export them to India.
Ans policymakers and nuclear scientists in india, irrespective of which party is in national government, have a blueprint for nuclear power, which envisages Thorium based reactors in about 30-40 years time. But those reactors have not yet been built and comprehensively tested. To graduate from our current nuclear phase to thorium power, there is an intermediate stage where will have no option but to use a mix of thorium an uranium. We do not have enough reserves of uranium in our country to meet this national blueprint. hence the call by scientists to import uranium to meet our requirements during this phase. And hence the need for a nuclear deal. Clearly a lot of soul-searching has already been done, so you don't have to sell your soul to the devil.

Whether we have other alternatives to satisfy our energy needs is debatable. The point is we can't put all our eggs in one basket. Today oil is $93 a barrel; when it hits 120-130 in the next few years, we will be at the mercy of others like Saudi Arabia or Iran. And the s**t will hit the fan, literally, as people riot on high power prices. That is why an expanded energy basket consisting of coal, oil, hydel, nuclear and wind is a much safer option, we won't have to sell our soul, as you put it, to anybody, including Iran, Saudi or US.

All the countries that have been too deeply involved with the US (except western ones) are in a bad position today. Manmohan wanted to sign over Indias freedom to test nuclear devices to the US. That is not acceptable. He was not forthcoming about the Hyde act. Indias nuclear capacities cannot depend on who is the president of the US. One of the reasons Pakistan is in soup is because the Pakistani elite got too deeply involved with the US and subverted democratic institutions in their own country.
