WHY ARE SOME BENGALIS WORSHIPPING BUDDHADEB?
by MGR Fan on Oct 28, 2007 01:42 PM   Permalink

I find a lot of educated Bengalis worshipping Buddhadeb. What exactly has he done to West Bengal to deserve worship?

A few Software companies like Wipro andEDS have put their offices in Kolkatta. A lot of shopping complexes and multiplexes adorn Kolkatta. That is because everyone knows that Kolkatta has lots of talented people ready to work hard and spend money. So what exactly has Buddhadeb done?

West Bengal has one of the highest Illiteracy rates in India. The Slum population of Kolkattai s still second highest in India. Poverty is a way of life for millions of Bengalis.

70% of Educated Bengalis leave the state, work outside in far off places like Delhi, Chennai, Bangalore etc and visit the state during Pooja to have fun.

What is so great about Buddhadeb? He brought a car factory, but that is nothing. Look at a state like Maharashtra or Haryana, we have several such automobile factories. What is big deal about Buddhadeb? What about other industries? What about Power Plants, Steel factories etc? Look at the way Naveen Patnaik is struggling to put a steel factory in Orissa. Do we see such a move in bengal? No body wants to invest in that state...
