Very Sad India
by Dinesh on Oct 28, 2007 02:13 PM   Permalink | Hide replies

It is very sad to see the mental make up of people in India as expressed by posts in this forum. WHile it is true that every community needs to protect their interests and lobbying by Hindus and Muslims is justified I wonder how people can support savage brutality that took place in Gujarat. Just put yourself in the shoes that Muslims in Gujarat went through. Imagine a mob of 1000 people outside your house waiting to butcher you. For absolutely no fault of yours. THink as a Hindu or Muslim but not always. THink as a human at times

Dear Dinesh
Just Imagine you are in a train, you are innocently looking forward to meet your family. You are locked up, petrol poured on the bogies and you are burnt alive for absolutely no fault of yours. Hve you imagined that? Both forms are horrifying do not glorify one version and leave the other as politicians do for vote

Thanks Srinivasan. I am not in anyway glorifying the train carnage. There is an analogy given by someone i dont remember, Just because a Maruti car hit you on the road, will you go and burn down the Maruti factort? Did the people who retaliate do it out of revenge? Did they do it out of Hindu brotherhood. NO. they just took advantage of the political situation. What did they gain? Power. What is the long term implication of that. People are alienated forever. Those people and their generations to follow will nurse resentment forever.

Has any one observed communal tension in Gujarat after 2002? Unnecessarily salt is rubbed on wounds. During 1984; Sikhs were driven out from all over India and pushed to Punjab. Most taxi drivers were sikhs in Mumbai, now do you find them? Why hard earned money of public should be spent on Haj subsidy which muslims themselves do not approve? Government should spend on public welfare only without caste and creed.

I am sure they would burn the Hindus over there. But is that justification for Muslims to be killed here?

I just hope that India does not turn into Israel where there is a terrorist attack every day. Sometimes things are not in our control, things like Partition, Babri Masjid, Godhra train burning and the riots can set a country on an irreversible path much like Israel. But atleast let us do what we can, keep away from supporting terror.

I am not saying that there is a lot of patriotism among Muslims in this country. You can see outright that Muslims support Pakistan when there is a cricket match. But i am only saying that no one should be killed for no fault of theirs.

I think you are yourself a muslim and writing with a hindu name. the biggest terrorists in the world today are muslims. Most other things happen once in a while but muslim attacks are occuring evry day through out the world. They dont want to follow any law of the land. a very simple thing. the Supreme Court says registeration of marriages should be made compulsory. Even this is not accepatable to the muslims. For them there religion is above the nation.

why do i have to be a Muslim or a Paki to talk about humanity? I am also not in support of having different laws for different religions. I agree that there is a lot of traditional orthodox mindset among the Muslims which is not relevant in todays world. But ask yourself what is the justification to kill innocent people

None of your relatives died in the train carnage. But still you are outraged and talking about retaliation. Think of the Muslims whose family members got killed. Will you not blame them for carrying out terrorist attacks in the name of revenge? whom are you retailiating against? Somebody who had nothing to do with the incident??
