thks mr anil kumar for your excellent article but i feel it fails to touch many important issues.
1.there are no permanent friends or enemies in international relationships. americans are comfortable only in dealing with dictators and certainly will not be with a motley crowd of politicians going under the garb of democracy. that is the reason they always supported pakistan, shah of iran and philipines and they never encourged democracy in any country.
2.americans are known to be very untrustworthy and they go back on their agreements at thir own whim. they may wink at the hyde act if it suits them but what is the guarantee they will not use it to blackmail/ditch us when our use for them is over. tarapore nuclear deal is there as a red signal for their treachery
3.india will become the dumping ground for their out-of-date nuclear reactor tecnologies and their multinational cos will kill our r&d programs and growth of independent scientific talent and research. they will kill our research in the field of thorium based FBTs.
4.even after the deal, the nuclear energy will form only 7 -10% of total requirement. is it worth selling our honour and freedom for this minor percentage.
5. nuclear energy is highly capital intensive and involve long gestation period. imagine what will be cost of unit of electricity and can you tell me whether majority of indians can afford that high a price.

6. this deal will enrich the coffers of big multinationals and certainly big industrial giants like reliance etc. will it really benefit the majority of indians and help reduce the dsparity between the rich and the poor. MOST CERTAINLY NOT BY ANY STRETCH OF IMAGINATION. it will only help ambanis and the like to add few more billions to their kitty and corrupt politicians will havw field day but hapless farmers will continue to commit suicide in droves.

7. finally india being such a weak/spineless country do u think it will effectively deal with the rise in terrorism due to the deal and ensure the safety of its citizens?? see america had not seen any repeat of 9/11 since they are not going to take lying low or philosophically like our indian politicians do. it will become a boring ritual after every bomb attack which will only increase to hear our politicians' bravados. except that those who died due to these attacks will not be there to hear it. but our corrupt politicians' security will be increased more at the cost of already suffering tax payers.
