Since 123 will solve India's energy problem for ever, it is worth dclaring emergency and suppress the communists. BJP leadership is solidly behind it and come on board. they started the process after all. One 123 is operational, India can meet all of its need from nuclear power stations that we can ask US companies to build. We can convert all our vehicles to electric and solve our pollution problem in the process.

Please ask dear old doctor Singh to develop a spine for a change and stand up to the Left "ally" bullies. He has only to visit a Gurdwara and learn about Guru Govind Singhji and his self-sacrifice to stand up for his belief.

I don't think either the govt or any of deal's supporters claimed that nuclear power would take care of all of India's energy needs (although 77 percent of energy production in France is nuclear energy). However given the issues of pollution and global warming from coal-fired power plants, land acquisition etc problem with hydel power, non-scalability of other alternate power sources and lack of good quality coal in India, nuclear power could be major source after thermal power.
In addition, this deal breaks the dual-use technology denial regime that India is subjected to under NPT, allows greater investment flows, infusion of new technology and a back-door entry to nuclear power club so far limited to P5 countries.
