Speedy Trials
by mani shrinivas on Oct 24, 2007 05:53 PM   Permalink | Hide replies

Today was a unique day where a large no of sentences for mass killing were awarded after 10 to 15 years after long drawn trials.Justice delayed is justice denied. We should have fast track courts for dealing with such cases and trials should be speedy. Army Court Marials conduct trials on daily basis and it continues without any break exept sundays and holidays till the conviction and sentence. We should try and follow a system something like that.

What a day for Indian democracy - to add some figures to what youve said, i think its a phenomenal number of 40 life sentences in 24 hours (good lord! its like justice strikes back)...10 belong to the CP killing case, 15 to the kanpur riots, 5 belong to the madhumita and another 10 for the TN blasts.

even i was following it article by article. do youll think theres some coincidence behind all these verdicts coming up together?
