Its fleet consists of 4796 buses at present. In the present financial year till August 2007, it has already grossed profits of Rs. 39 crores.

Hmmm why dont you read todays and yesterday's times of india Bangalore edition. They carried out reports of road rash by BMTC ...the casulties are similir in numbers.. 97 kills made by BMTC so far this year..In Delhi at least buses obey RED signals...whereas in Bangalore, just check out at Yeshwantpur circle, Mekhri circle, Hebbal and many other places where signal jumping by BMTC Buses are common sight.

I have been living in Bangalore for last 9 years. BMTC road rash is very evident in lane (in)discipline, signla jumping, no care for smaller vehicles, the way they take turns. I face it everyday. Once my friends parked car was hit by a BMTC bus while his kid was inside. Early this year a Volvo bus lost control and killed couple of people in a bus stop near HAL.

we hav to c the welfare of whole country big thing is that delhi govt is like a puppet even though delhi does not enjoy the full priviledges of a state
some of its agencies are controlled by central govt which is the cause of conflict
there is no harm in running the bluelines lest there is discipline.
Delhi cant run on DTC alone 1100 buses are given to schools and DTC obliges the NCR region by providing all its major fleet there nt in delhi city
so delhities have no option to use blueline as mode of transport instead of fighting govt shud b pressurised to provide facilities to the common man after all fr wat purposes are taxes taken
our country as on papers is a democracy but in working its like a gundaraj

heh!
bangalore buses are crap.
they charge a lot for small distances even in this tiny size city with respect to delhi ..
For same distance when delhi buses charge 10 rs .. they wil charge 20-25 .. no consideration to common person.

Sudhansu your great lier in Bangalore there are 3 kinds of buses one is Volvo and another are normal buses. Volvo charge 25-30 agreed but they are 100 times better than DTC or Blueline. Normal buses charge maximum 10rs from any distance to any distance. No comparison between DTC or Blueline to BMTC.I have been to Gurgaon,Delhi and Bangalore but come and see once BMTC. I am sure you will be stunned
