In any way USA try to grab India to impose all types nuclear laws not to go for utilisation of nuclear waste. But USA does not entitled for this. That will harm the security of the developing nationslike India. USA was never an ally and will never in future, be careful. Once India will sign the contract with USA then tomorrow is there any surety that Australia, the strong ally of USA will say yes to supply uranium always. Forget this. After the responce of PM still USA is hopeful. So be careful Indians. How much power can you generate from nuclear and how many days? If you Indians are so anxious for energy security then why are not you checking the creater of energy demand (population). Check it, work hard and take advantage of all.

Why Nuclear Energy can't be used to generate substantial amount of India's needs? Especially with all this Global Warming and Kyoto protocol, India will be forced to reduce the carbon emissions. How do you propose to achieve it? Solar/Wind etc put together will never reach the level of Nuclear Energy. There's nothing to be careful about. No point in nuclear isolation especially if we don't want to explode nuclear bombs.

The last sentence of yours is most appropriate for India. There is still apprehension that Australia will supply the nuclear fuel to you always. USA may play with your internal security. At that time you will bound to show your back. Se the Iraq case. Was there any WMD or atom bomb? Nothing... all things went fake..
If population control can not be checked then India will be in serious trouble on fuel security, global climate change, etc... How many years the nuclear will supply electricity to you? Firstly you have no resource. Secondly technically not sound. Thirdly mushrooming population development. fourthly etc etc...
Think for CCS, renewables, natural gas, hydro, etc... Nuclear is not at all a reliable source...

Dear New Blogger, just see the developments (Political) in and around india, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Nepal, Burma are boiling china is much bigger threat to us than any of this we need to have more wepons to ensure china does not take a darastic step. Yes energy and developments are essential but then what was the previous govt's doing when the need for power was faced. All of a sudden they have woke up. We have very good natural resources just in next 5 years there will be huge developments in solar energy and india is blessed with almost 9 months of total sunlight. Secondly a n deal will take minimum 10 years to start producing the electricity so its nothing immediate.
