the BJP to set personal pique aside
by Gurudutt kamath on Oct 16, 2007 11:20 AM   Permalink | Hide replies

As a stand alone case, BJP must support the deal, and need not be in the present position, they can negotiate if required vis a vis their support to the deal. BJP has already said they are not against the deal and not agaisnt USA. Therefore, common grounds are more than the stand taken by the leftists. of this country.

It is not possible for the govt to accept BJP's support as congress's Secular image and their allies image will be over. Now the elections for BJP ruling states are roudn the corner and it is impossible for the govt. The govt is there without self respect. Now even congress can't claim that they have nation interest and if made, it is against his allies like RJP and DMK as both were against the deal

If the Congress really cares about the image of the Country and the Prime Minister, let them go ahead with the deal and lose power if it comes to that. But they want power and the country's interest comes last.
