Let me start by saying that people of India are happy people. We are not rich, we are not best performers but we are happy with our lives. The reason we are happy is because of our freedom that our fathers gave us 60 years ago. We are happy because we have liberty to be independant.
We do not have puppet governments whose strings are controlled from abroad. We do not need false luxury if it costs independance. True freedom is being able to be independant, is being to be able to judge things without any influence. Nor do we have foreign soldiers controlling our territory to stage operations in other countries. Nor do we have foreign soldiers raping our women and escaping the law.
No I do not want to be a millionaire nor do I want electricity if it costs me freedom. Freedom of independance in foreign policy. India has paid the cost of freedom by being poor. If USA is truly interested in partnership of equals, then we should willingly extend our hand of friendship to them, however, be careful that hand could be snatched and twisted in want of greater concessions. This is how USA treats its business partners. Let them come clean on their REAL intentions on nuclear deal, we will sign the deal.

You are free in india? As a normal citizen, you are treated as a riff raff by politicians, law enforcement and bureaucracts...even when a gulli politican goes in car, traffic will be stopped for hours, police will not help you unless U r a rich person, govt.servants do not care unless U bribe them; people on the street will not care, not even an ugly girl, if U have brown skin...so what independence U r talking? U brainless idiot...talk sensibly, do not use your mediocre knowledge on things U do not know

What you said is true mostly. But these have very little to do with freedom. Is anyone dictating your life? Are you scared to utter something against the government? Do you feel threatened to talk against Hinduism being muslim? Is anyone stopping you from publishing something anything in newspaper? Is there anyone else who is controling your other than yourself? I bet the answer is 'no' for all the questions. Some problems are there in India. Which contry doesn't? But that does not mean that we are not free.

Man except one fact that currently US is far ahead than us and India need more US assistance than US needs India's Till now what we have gained by over non-alignment? How many countries support US when we go to UN for any permanent seat or for any issue? There is no point is always doubting US intention, Isrieal is allay of US and a small country but where ever required US has supported it. If u want to have friendship then u have to give some and take some.
