we are not so capable?
by p arjun on Oct 09, 2007 12:29 AM   Permalink | Hide replies

India produced a super computer in 41/2 years, developed nuclear bomb, merged as number one in software then why we are not capable of building a nuclear power plant?
India is having tons of thorium, India is having the technology to purify this thorium...
we developed the powerful technology to send our heavy payload rockets to the space eventhough those scientific institutes were black listed by the developed countries.
then why? why we are not capable of bulding a nuclear power plant?
why the political parties are not supporting the indegenious nuclear power plant?
we need peoples like Dr. Kalam in the front row of the political parties... but unfortunately....

If India has done so many things, why can't they do it in manufacturing sector, India has built super computer, but why dont they have Dell's and HP's. India has built Rockets, but why dont they send people into space as frequently as the US does. Well, you can certainly say that India can do it in the future. We can still wait for few more years to send people into space. However, we cannot wait to research on Nuclear technology as it would take years, while the need of the hour for us is to build infrastructure which includes power. Infact, power would be the major part of it. We Indians, really tend to get overawed with the opinions of the self oriented greedy politicians. People, question why US is trying to rush things to finalise the deal, but nobody questions, why China is objecting. Us, has its ambitions to nuetralise the power, while China, wants to rule the Asian region. In this battle, if we are benefitting, why not support the deal.

Dude You need to research about the problems surrounding the 'indegenious' Nuclear plants. A lot has already been said and discussed. You can find plenty of answers.
Long Story short: to convert our indegenious tech to produce economic power, it will take abt 20 yrs. The economic boom cant wait while we prepare. Oil, Gas and Coal are not reasonable alternatives.

Hope this helpful.

hi cool,
do u know the story of Param computer, we targeted it to finish by 5 years and our scientists done it by just 4 years. at that time Mr. rajiv gandhi was there to encourage them, yep the only good thing he done in his political life.
so as enticejuan said we can do it.... but somebody should be there as late rajiv gandhi.
