Who is Sonia
by Indian Guy on Oct 08, 2007 10:09 AM   Permalink | Hide replies

Who is she to speak for Indian affairs? I was so ashamed to hear that she represened India in UN. Looks like India is slave again and we have no leaders of Indian origin who can represent us. How proud Mahatma Gandhi would be :).

His original lineage is no where in the scene but fake gandhis are ruling the country.

Actually did we really get freedom -- doesn't look like that. We are still of slave mentality or else how can we tolerate this Gandhi family for so long. Even a dumb guy from that family is able to reach the top --looks like this family gets the PM position in heritage. What else is the meaning of slave nation.

Indians please have shame on your self and vote Congress out of power. at all costs as these guys are bent upon proving that Indians are not capable of ruling.

Well said. In countries like the US, Californian 'Governator' Arnold Schwarzenegger cannot stand for President because there is a law against a non-US born person from standing for that supreme post. We should enact a similar law that will stop Sonia Gandhi (actually she should write her name as Sonia Khan because Indira Nehru married Feroz Khan) from standing for Prime Minister.
The Congress party does not have any other solution to the problem of having a figure head, and hence they are willing to compromise to any extent. In fact, Rahul Gandhi would be a better candidate for PM because he was born in India.
Yet, I feel that India should come out of the 'Nehru Dynasty' era (even though the Gandhi brand is strongly enshrined in the minds of our public) and vote for people who have no connection with them. That would be the ideal solution.

Is there something wrong with our culture that we are not able to generate good leaders? I know at independence Congress had many leaders with both knowlege and integrity. Why is Congress so dead today- with no one to lead and only blood suckers to be seen.

On a lighter vein, to remove the Gandhi name confusion, since name change is allowed in India, I suggest everybody go for a name change to 'Gandhi'. That will remove the confusion and make people freshly conscious of what Gandhi shoudl be. It will remove the misue of Gandhi name by one family. I suggest that all netas shoudl start with their name change.

The biggest problem with our democracy is that we have a majority of illiterates who do not know how to vote. I often heard old female voters say "Indira ka beta/beti hai..mai to usko vote doongi" or maulvis asking people to vote for certain candidates who promise tabling legislation favoring Muslim community- issues that have nothing to do with economic progress or development or slum dewellers jumping to pre-election sops like regularization, suspension of cnroachment drives, pradhans being promised funds or pocket-money. The 2nd problem is that we do not have open debates or communication like in US. As a result ....

Contd..As a result we don't hold our elected officials accountable, measure them against their performance in parliament, ask how they have been voting inside the parliament, what issues have they raised, how many days they attended the parliament, have they been changing parties, have theybeen involved in criminial activities or corruption. How they have spent the money given to them for development, were those projects left midway or completed, did they do what they promised 4 years ago. We don't let competing candidates debate so that all the voters can judge their competence, awareness and sincerity. In thsi modern age of communications, we are not using TV, Internet, BLogs, news media to full advantage. Our democracy is full of flaws, we need to change. Even our bigger parties do not talk to electrolates about issues of national interest- schools, colleges in villages, roads, hospital, telephone, bus service, electricty, water. Good teachers, libraries and doctors that the villages have been lacking.

Do any of our elected leaders have a plan to change our villages? Why don't we seek loans? They seem to canvass only before elections. I say BJP and future netas of Congress have 4 years to canvass, go to 5000 villages, make people aware of their rights, the importance of political participation, the importance of their vote in their own lives, their children lives, how they should question their elected representatives,...
