truth......
by Shankar Shinde on Oct 03, 2007 05:59 PM   Permalink | Hide replies

We are facing sad days all the recent years. Some are marked by sacrifices by our brave soldiers and some by the death of inncent citizens in jehadi terrorists activities. We wake up at times when rarely incident like this is published and again go for our work. But the families of the soldiers will never recover from such incidents. I pray to god to give the courage to mother of vinay and raman to face the sad demise of their sons...
Let our army kill all the terrorists and their supporters mercilessly and finish the problem once created by our so called great leaders...!

The comparison between mirchi and terrorists itself is wrong. Yes. The army may not eat more mirchi but they will surely keep killing the terrorists endlessly. That is the only way to deal with the people who do not know the language of reason. Halalisaab, you better advise your terrorist friends not to eat more mirchi!

Mr. Saturn,
People are mourning the loss of this soldier and saying how brave he was. There is no doubt that he was brave, more brave than anyone of us on this blog.

We are saluting his service, but deep in our hearts we feel better that we are not in his shoes or in the shoes of any of his family members.

This lip service we pay to our soldiers is an insult to their sacrifice. In fact we do not give a damn !!!
Why are we not pushing for an effective solution towards the Kashmir Issue ?
Why are we letting our leaders off the hook with failed policies over the last 60 years ?

The soldier did his part, where are we and what are we doing to help his cause ?

How can we let elections be decided on issues such as renaming a road or building a mosque/temple ?

Why can't be demand better governance and accountability from our leaders ?

This major is a casualty of our failed policies. And if we really want to honor his sacrifice, we need to hold our leaders accountable.

What is our plan for Kashmir ?
What is our strategic Goal ?
What tools are we using to accomplish that ?

Lets not be shallow in our thinking. It is time for us to honor the sacrifices of our heros and we can do that by demanding better policies.

Solving the Kashmir Issue is vital for India to continue its growth as an economic power house. Unfortunately the leadership keeps repeating the same mistakes over and over. We tend to believe that military is the solution. It is NOT. We need a more comprehensive approach.

Its like a goldsmith using a blacksmith%u2019s hammer. It is unfortunate that the Government has learnt nothing in the last 18 years and has learnt nothing from similar situations in other parts of the world.

The presence of Military in J&K is counter productive. It gives a false sense of success. But it is a disaster in the long run. The Indian government needs to bring the Kashmiris into the Indian Mainstream.

What is our Strategic Aim in Kashmir?
For me it is territorial integrity and peace.

Using the Army is a tactical tool, which is backfiring. We need to first define our scope and make everyone understand that the following 3 are NOT viable options,

1. Kashmir being an Independent State
2. Kashmir being a part of Pakistan
3. Kashmir being a part of India

We must accept the LoC as the international border between Pakistan and India. The Parliament must pass this resolution. It is insane to think that the whole of Kashmir will be part of either India/Pakistan. And for people, who still believe in that Strategic Goal, please lay out your plan to achieve it. We have NOT seen that in the past 60 years.

Imranbhai, from the loss of BanglaDesh and humiliation underwent, our neighbours have become restless with the feeling of revenge. That is why they started militancy in Kashmir from 1989. Though they might have recruited the locals, locals are not to be blamed because they got recruited at the gunpoint. Before the militancy started, Kashmir was going great with tourism. Everybody earned their proper bread and butter. But the wise persons like Mirwaiz Moulavi Farooq were killed by the militants and then likes of his son also started to preach separation by the fear of life.
So there is no Kashmir problem except that of the neighbour sponsored terrorism and that is NO problem for the army because it is capable of continuing its operations practically endlessly.
And what is so special in declaring the LOC as the boundry? It IS the present fact except that it is not officially declared so.
And suppose Imranbhai, the so called 'problem' is ultimately solved, do you think that the neighbours will stay happily ever after? NO.
If they remove 'hatred against India' from their life, there is nothing left. The neighbours are surviving only on this hatred, which if removed from their life, they become a worthless piece of shit, which really they are!
So both ways, the neighbours will keep troubling India. So to keep the terrorists killing is the best option before India and its army, though as ordinary persons, we do feel sad at the loss of such young army boys.
Shukriya.

Localize the Law enforcement apparatus in Kashmir. Having CRPF in Kashmir is crazy. Instead have local Kashmiris manage these things. It give a different face and people are much more receptive. People in Maharashtra do not like people coming over from South. It is human nature. People like to see familiar faces, faces that they feel comfortable with.

Stop taking sides in election. Farooq Abdullah is corrupt and has no respect amongst the masses. People in Kashmir want development. Government is spending money but they are so inefficient and corrupt that the local population hardly sees any change in his day-day life.

The Kashmir problem can be broken down into three major issues,
-      Kashmiri Separatist (20 %)
-      Anger with Government for not providing basic things such as water/electricity/roads (70%)
-      Pakistan Influence/Interference (10%)

The Pakistanis feed on the dis-satisfaction of the Kashmiri People with the Indian government. We need to bring these 70% on our side by effective governance. The Kashmiri Separatist, which is a minority, needs to be LAW enforcement, intelligence-gathering challenge. We use the heavy-handed approach of using an Army to fight the separatist and in the process we further alienate the 70% that are not content.

The Pakistan influence/Interference needs to be minimized by international pressure/Sanctions/Diplomacy/Trade/Cultural ties/Supporting democracy in Pakistan/etc.

We have to use all the tools (Diplomatic, Financial, humanitarian, Military) at our disposal to solve this issue. No ordinary Kashmiri wants to join Pakistan. What does Pakistan have to offer? They are just dis-content with the Indian Government. We can address that. It will take efficient, honest and hardworking governance.

Military is NOT the solution.
