Breach of contract
by Kaushik Basu on Oct 04, 2007 12:18 AM   Permalink | Hide replies

I think all the politicians and political parties should be summoned by the Supreme court which does a breach of contract. A breach of contract with the voters.

Now a days majority of them either aligns with the BJP or the Congress in spite of fighting against both of them in the election. If the voters vote them because they project themselves as non BJP, non Congress government then they should not be part of the government because that is a breach of contract and commitment with the voters. They give excuse that they do not want the country to go into votes again as that is a very costly affair, but they know that if this happens once, then every state and the center would surely become a by party contest, which would be very good for India in longer term.

I think it is alright to align with either of the parties and govern the sate. When the voters are cannot decide between Congress and BJP, they vote for third party to show their strength of opposing equally. So, why not half term with Cong and other half with BJP solve their purpose of partially voting these parties? If there is a clear majority to any party, that party rules for the full term. Why should we go to polls everytime there is a hung assembly? Good trend in multi-party system as this balances the Power. Not like the developed nations struggling with Polarization of parties. For example, USA has no go to even think of voting a third party. It is completely polarized.
