You have expressed it nicely, but I dont agree with the ROOT thing, since it is we humans who use wrong interpretation of religion to satisfy our whims and then blame it on religion.

Hello My Muslim Brohter: I converted myself from your faith, when i realize that Islam does preach nothing but violence against other religions. Have you read chapter 9 verse 4,5,6,10, 15, 17 etc ? It says in short the following it says in short:
1) Do not allow any Idolators inside the mosque, since they are not clean. 2) How come a muslim do a contract with an idolator, but if such contract is done int he holy mosque then a muslim is bound by it. 3) until the idolator is true to you. if you find that the idolator is bad mouthing etc about you or islam behind your back, the contract can be viewed as null and void. 4) if an idolator ask for shelter then take him to a safe place and make him read koran. 5) otherwise "slay the idolators wherever you find them, until they repent and convert, pray to allah then free them"
Gottchhas ? You can not take idolators in the mosque, hence you can not have any contract with him in mosque, and any contract that has to be done has to be done outside of the mosque, and hence it is null and void on the day of inseption of the contract. And hence the final verdict, kill until they convert... We saw that happening in Pakistan and Bangladesh in last 60 years. The population reduced to less than 3% from 25%. Whereas these hindus allowed us to grow from 30 million to 150 million in their land.
Hence I belive I was right to have converted from Islam... which is nothing but politics in a very crude and cruel sense! Ab
