Great Project!Are U out of sense?What benefit it has brought for common tamilians so far and what do u expect it to bring on completion?The result will be fisher folk will loose their livelyhood!You must know this is squandering away the public money and the congress muffs has gone with this project just to hang on in power!for your information I am giving following and u judge for yourself if it is a worthwhile projec! 1.Revised project cost has gone up from 2700 crores to 4000 crores! 2.The canal will be 12 meter deep and only ships upto 30000 tonnes only can sail through!Mind in view of econmy of operation all shipping companies go for large ships only - 80% of ships are of tonnegae more than 30000! 3.It may save distance but travel time will increase because of low speed and the shipping companies wouldnot take a risk for saving penny! 4.Ships sailing from west and going to east will use one way only-simiarly ships sailing in other direction will use it as one way only! 5.There is no absolute savings for sailing ships to Kolkata or pradeep-beneficial only upto Vishakapatnam! 6.Due high under currents dredging and de sanding will have to go on continuesly and it will be a costly exercise! In short this is a white elephant and this lady sonia has joined hands with the same people who celebrated the death of her husband just for power!
