Not a correct calculation
by Guest on May 24, 2009 04:57 PM   Permalink

This looks like Mr.Balakrishna has been hired to make a case against the project.

Break even calculation figure is wrong. Interest is assumed at 12% p.a which is almost double of what you pay for this kind of projects. When the principal is getting paid every year the principal and so the interest gets reduced. He has not calculated EMI for 25 years to calculate the break even.

The EMI should be around 102 crores per year whihc is half of what he has projected at 6% p.a interest rate you can get for this kind of projects. This is not a project which is going to end in 25 years once executed. This will also lead to other trade opportunities for the benefit of India and we can develop Tuticorin port and hence international trade.

If the draft is an issue he should actually suggest the optinum draft to get maximum benefit not declare that the project is a waste.
