Given the scenario in IT , its highly likely that women vying with men do not claim this benifit lest they fall back in the corporate ladder . they are well aware of the extra 30K tax benifit but not aware of the minimum Maternity leave ... thats a huge pile of bovine crap i must say !!!

Completely Agree. This is journalism by a complete novice. There is a law in India for manadatory 3 months maternity leave. No company worth its salt can do this stupidity. I am sure Rediff needs better researchers.
Read this for better understanding
Maternity Benefit Act, 1961 says that Google it to read the details. I hope Rediff is better informed next time.
