Give her citizenship
by Mahesh on Nov 24, 2007 01:55 AM   Permalink | Hide replies

She should be given citizenship and protection but also be told to be responsible in her writings. As long as she genuinely wants to reform Islam with her writings it is fine but she would not be abusive or write falsehood about anyone. India should prove it stands for genuine freedom of thought and speach. It is strange that in our country supporting terrorism is freedom of speach but genuine reformer's writings is not acceptable.

Taslima never used any abusive languages in any of her books. Nor she is a reformer. She is just documenting the truth around her. If one can not digest the truth let him/her go to hell.

People here are talking about giving Taslima Indian Citizenship...And on the other hand they are NOT willing to accept Sonia Gandhi as an Indian.

Why the double standards ?
BJP, where are you principles ?

I am no fan of Sonia Gandhi (No outstanding achievement other tha having the last name Gandhi) nor am I a fan of Taslima (I feel for what she went through, but see seems to suggest that Islam is responsible for that. Well, woman are being prosecuted and raped in other religions as well).

But I see the double standards with people on this forum with the way they have treated these two woman.

Oppopse Sonia because she is from Congress and support Taslima because she has managed to offend the Muslims (Muslims have been outrageous in their reaction. Bad PR).

Where are your principles ?

A genuine reformer should be in her own country to carry on her reform! What is she doing in India?

And what is Ayesha's country Mr. Sameer Desai?
Pray enlighten us as to that! And who will make her reform? Clarify! Through force? Why don't you REFORM your MINDSET? That WOULD BE A GREAT START!

Imran, what are you comparing man ? Taslima is a writer fighting for truth , the only support she has is people like us. Sonia is a political leader and powerful she does not need that sort of attention. So try tolearn comparing apple with apple and not otherwise

What is the truth Satpath? Something that you and the BJPites thrust down unwilling people's throats? Be a man and face up to the truth yourself! Something you very much need to do, judging from the your writing.

Right said Mahesh. India is a secular and free country. Some people take advantage of free speech which should not be tolerated. Taslima is a refined and talented writer, who should be given security from the terrorists who want to impose their terror on everybody to shut them.
