I think commonwealth is made up of countries that were once ruled by British. At this age and time what are the advantages of being in commonwealth? If there are no advantages what is the point of being a part of commonwealth?

The Commonwealth of Nations were the former British colonies and countries once governed by the British.Except for the US, all the English speaking countries fall in the Commonwealth.Important countries are Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Egypt, Malaysia and of course India. The commonwealth of nations was established to promote trade, cultural , technology, and humanitarian aid exchanges on special terms between the members. Losing a membership would certainly lead to hardships in the relationships with the Commonwealth countries.
