No. South India is not different. But, the southern parts of this country have been known for the moderation in people's behavious. Fanaticism regarding anything is supposed to be less (including religious fanaticism). So, BJP is kind of new here.

Manjuala,
Fanaticism regarding anything is supposed to be less, but we have lots of regional parties like DMK, AIDMK, PDP,PMK---- etc hundred of local parties in south indian states. Actually, all these small parties are threat for our national integrity. We need two party system in India. Congress and BJP,both these parties are good.
BJP has proved their caipability to rule our country and best opposition to congress. These small regional parties and Marxiest parties are always trying to destabilise the central government.

good said, in fact they have nothing to do with national interest, they only focus on their own interest, but fooling people saying that they are doing in the intestest of their region. May be not only two parties, but at least the parties should have their mass base in 5-6 states of India so that they know better about mass interest.

It will be historic for BJP. No one here is saying that south India is different. It is indeed integral part of Great India....and remember the pledge we used to take during school days...."All Indians are my brother and sisters".

Cheer Raj...
