Dictator and the USA
by Mahesh on Nov 08, 2007 06:08 AM   Permalink | Hide replies

This dictator was worried about losing his job once Supreme Court gave it's judgement on his re-elction and hence he imposed martial law and removed the judges. He will reinstate the constitution when he is sure these judges will not come back to the bench.
America loses its credibility when it shows double standards on dictatorship. When it is done by Myanmar or North Korea, it is bad but if it is General Musharraf, he is indispensable ally. What right America has to ask India to act against Myanmar? India needs Myanmar's cooperation in containing terrorists in the north-east.
America will be a great country when it follows what it preaches.

Hello all

Emergency or martial law in Pakistan is not a new phenomenon. In my view emerging at this time is good for the entire world because of many reasons.

1.      So called democratic parties and its heads are thoroughly corrupt especially PPP and are just looking for some pie of power as they believe general is getting weaker. If they were so much concerned about Pakistan then why self imposed exile, why no demonstrations when general did coup in 1999, why reaction to this emergency is so Luke warm. If Benezire is really lady of substance then like asking free and fair polls she should also ask for free and fair trial for corruption charges on her and her husband.
She actually just smelled the blood when she found that general is getting some what weak and its her chance to polarize some US attention towards her. That%u2019s what she really did and stayed for long in Washington to get US blessing. Once she got that a so called deal with general is forked out. But Musharaff played the master stroke in end and declared emergency and pricking out all the air from PPP power and money garbing dreams. In that way its good for Pakistan that they will be saved from such politicians. Moreover even if she becomes PM the real power lies in hands of army chief and she will be a weak PM like Nawaz sharif. What%u2019s the use of that kind of PM; it will just be an eye wash for international community that Pakistan is democracy.

2.      ; Pakistan is in stronger position to ask more aid fro
