the nuclear deal and the political parties
by krishna kumar sinha on Nov 09, 2007 03:30 AM   Permalink

This is such a serious matter but unfortunately it is getting lost in the debate about communal ism and communism. Here are the boundary lines:
1. We have pursued the path of independent development so far, that has brought us up to a certain level. Our top scientists somehow neglected search for uranium (no body knows why)which has brought us to this sorry state.
2. We can not go very far on our own in this complicated field and have to hold the hands of either US or Russia or France.
3. They may help, but will definitely impose IAEA supervision. This is unavoidable.
4. The super-powers willing to help can never bless or support our bomb making efforts.
5. The BJP govt has already declared a one sided moratorium on further explosive testing.
6.What is left to be negotiated is the cost which no party is talking about as was the case with Enron.
