Well expressed Hanif saab! Surely Musharraf was out of his wits. It was pathetic to see a dictator more or less weeping on the TV and addressing the nation as if the whole of it has only school-kids in it who would listen to any crap given by a headmaster.
His word 'conviction' looked meaningless in the whole show! You know, when Musharraf speaks, he is under the impression that all his junta has accepted him. He is wrong there.
The fact is that no military dictator in Pakistan wants to even know what a democracy is. What did he mean by 'YOUR level of democracy'? Wasn't it funny? Did he mean that he wanted a joint venture of partly a dictatorship and partly a democracy (only because the world insists it)? And what did he mean by 'give us time' What the hell for? Actually he wanted the time for himself and not for the nation. And there are plenty of nations around who learnt democracy from inception without the time advantage!
Hanifsaab, educated people like you and the judges do not count in a dictatorship. Intelligence of a dictator is always upto the level of his shoulder, nothing above it. We call it 'Khandeshi'. Khanda means shoulder. If US had not been there, sure, all intellectuals would have been massacred by now as they did in Bangla Desh when it was 'East Pakistan'.
It is time for Musharraf to run away from the show or the roumer of his arrest would be realised soon.

Gen Ayub Khan, trained at Sandhurst and with a pronounced preference for the good things of life that are frowned upon by Islam, was a perfect ally for Governments on both sides of the Atlantic. The American media feted him, even when he pompously declared, %u201CDemocracy cannot work in a hot climate. To have democracy, we must have a cold climate like Britain.%u201D
Mushy agrees with Uncle Ayub that democracy is too good for Pakistan!
