Dr Patel should stop pretensions of doing some social work and boldly accept that for her, this is a commercial proposition. All this talk of one woman helping other is hogwash. If Dr. Patel is so concerned about childless couples and helping some poor women, she should offer her service free of cost or at bare minimum cost. The figures mentioned in the article are ample proof that this is nothing but business, something ingrained in Gujarati blood. To put it rather crudely, Dr. Patel is being a 'Dalal' between persons who need and persons who can provide.

In the whole cloumn she has never mentioned that she is doing a social service for the poors. It is her profession and she deserve to be paid for her services. whats wrong to help someone who is disabled? and that to with concurence from surrogate mothers. Atleast she as a doctor is doing something for these poor women who if not have opted to be a surrogate mother, would have died without being noticed.
