'A woman helping a woman! I love it!'

After reading entire article, it may be construed that this so called 'help' is going to be another drastic type of exploitation of poor. It may be simply asked whether the westerners can't find surrogate mothers among themselves? There are several poor people or lower middle class people there. Are they trying this help programme there? Many number of ethical, religious, emotional and social problems are involved in this. It is not simply a woman helping a woman. As it is it will help the Doctors and middlemen. mainly as the woman helping another woman will get only paltry sum. The entire proposal should be put to a wider debate including all religious heads, social activists, Women organizations in India rather as also rural women folk.

Shocking...a womb for $6000! I am sure the womb renters earn more than that in a month in US. Shame on you Dr. Patel! Pregnancy is not easy. It is risky and involves immense suffering. You, as a woman should know that and you should at least have paid the woman a higher percentage of the $15000 that you charge. Also, what about the the trauma that the women undergo after handing over the baby to the womb-renters?Has anyone done any research on the long-terms effects of this on the mental health of these poor, helpless women? To me, Dr. Patel is not very different from kidney racketeers. How did this woman get on Oprah? Has the world come to this?
